Current Topics

There are various topics under discussion, some of which are ongoing, others sometimes sorted out quickly.

Chairmans Report - Chairmans summary/report for 2010 can be read here.

Gas Storage Scheme - Halite( formerly Canatxx) must now apply to the Infrastructure Planning Commission. A brief and excellent summary by PWG summary here.

Flooding - Flooding is another topic which of course will be permanently on our agenda. One reason is the geography of Thornton, plus development of greenfield sites decreases natural drainage and also adds pressure to our already stressed sewer and drainage system.

Roads and Highways - Roads and Highways also has its own dedicated page linked from TAGs homepage and more information will be added soon. Highways may well appear on our agendas more frequently because the road surface on a number of Thorntons roads leaves a lot to be desired. This might be a good time to remind you - please report any faults you see in the road or pavement to L.C.C. on 0845 053 0011 (switchboard) or 01772 221611 (highways dept) or visit the website here LCC.

The Local Development Framework (LDF) - The Local Development Framework (LDF) will be the new planning policy document for Wyre and will replace the Wyre Borough Local Plan and Wyre Borough Local Plan 1st Deposit Draft. The first sentence was taken straight from WBC website, hence - Gobbldy Gook

Petition-Wyre Borough Council has introduced a petition scheme-details can be found here.

Waste Recovery Park - Waste Recovery Park is a fancy name for the new recycling plant on the old ICI site which can be seen from Bourne Hall hill (you can't miss it). It is owned by Global Renewables. Hopefully the only problems so far are the additional traffic movements caused by this development. There has been an agreed route for heavy wagons using the facility which is Amounerness Way. If you suspect vehicles seen on Fleetwood Road/ Lawsons Road are going to or from the Waste Plant, please let us know with as many details about any such vehicles, eg. name on wagon/trailer reg number etc.
